Is the child capable of taking over the business or do they feel obligated to do so? Does the child possess the proper skills to take over or do they still need some training? Is there someone else in the business more capable of taking over the business today until the heir apparent has additional training? If you nominate a child to be the heir, will this create a problem with the other staff?
Have you considered the tax implication of a sale to a child?
